Roller Bearings
Roller Bearings are used in many situations like conveyer belt rollers they have to hold heavy radial loads. In these bearings, the roller is a cylinder, so therefore the contact between the inner and outer race is a solid line. This enables the load to spread out over a larger area this allows the bearing to manage much heavier loads than a ball bearing. Although this type of bearing is not designed to handle much thrust loading at all. A variation of this type of bearing, called a needle bearing, uses cylinders with a very small diameter. I live in Rugby and the other day I suddenly realised that the tax on my car was due. My heart sank as I realised that I also had to get the mot done and I was really worried that the car might not pass the test.
